Dynamite, in the form of feisty, petite, Louise Martin, and her middle son Toby serve as the center interest in Dynamite Runs In The Family. A young Louise travels to Savannah, Georgia to attend nursing school. While staying at a rooming house, Louise encounters the spirit of a young girl, who steers Louise in the direction of her handsome instructor, Drew Martin. Destined to fall in love, the two marry and move to Alabama. In the course of just a few years, Louise gives birth to three boys. Tragedy strikes, when it is found that Drew has terminal cancer, and Louise soon finds herself a single mother to her young sons. Toby, the middle son, discovers at an early age, his musical talent. As Toby grows into adulthood, he forms a band with some friends, falls in love, marries, and becomes a father himself. Once again, tragedy visit's the Martin family, as Toby's young wife dies shortly after giving birth to their second child. Being the widowed, single father of two young children is difficult and Toby seeks ways to balance his family life and musical career. Toby's in-laws and Louise help him to find this balance. He finally finds musical success and love again. Come along on a road trip of music and love with Toby and his band. A furiously independent woman, Louise would do anything to protect her family, even confronting an intruder who has come to take revenge on Drew Martin's family for Drew's testimony that had sent the man to prison. Louise is forced to shoot and kill the man to keep him from harming Toby and her grandchildren. Toby's band, "Common Faith" finds success and is offered a recording contract and given the opportunity to tour as the backup band for a famous female country artist. While on tour in Savannah, Toby pays a visit to the rooming house where Louise stayed while a nursing student. Like Louise, Toby encounters the ghost of the young girl and, also like with his mother, the young girl guides him toward future love and happiness. Having inherited some of his mother's dynamite spirit and grit, Toby becomes an unwilling hero, when he curbs a would be robbery of the bands tour bus driver and is shot for his efforts. Not seriously injured, Toby quickly recovers and rejoins the tour. Continuing on the tour to a concert in Birmingham, Alabama, he runs into Libby Collins, a young lady that he once attended college with, and as the young girl in Savannah predicted, love and happiness soon come Toby's way again.
