When I was an Aerospace Executive responsible for overseas sales to Iran and Israel, I had to do a lot of overseas travel by airliner so I wanted to write this book, to learn how airline travel has improved since the mid 1980s. Later the vice-president to whom I reported offered me the Israeli business if I was willing to form my own company. I eagerly accept his offer and established a company specializing in designing Guidance and Control Systems for Military Aircraft, which was basically funded by the profits from the Israeli business. One of the consulting contracts of my company was to spend several months in Taiwan, designing a new guidance and control system for their new Ultra Fighter Aircraft to help defend them against their enemies at that time. ch less expensive than conventional (old-fashioned) At the Autonetics Division of Rockwell I was Chief Engineer responsible for the F111 Avionics system built by General Dynamics - Fort Worth with Avionics supplied by Autonetics. This avionic system included a fly-by wire system with duplicate Airborne Computers to perform all the computations required by the Avionics systems, including the first GPS installed on a military aircraft. A second reason I wanted to write this book is that I learned that the Dreamliner has some of the features first used on the F111 for which I designed the Guidance and Control. This book includes a description of the similar features used by the Dreamliner. I realize that the advent of Nanotechnology used in the Dreamliner electronics, makes it quite different than the electronics of the F111 time period. For example, GPS navigation is included as a function on handheld smartphones in the nanotechnology era rather a PC computer sized box used on the F111. Another important factor is cost: nanotechnology electronics are muelectronics.
