An autobiographical account in two parts. The first part concerns me as a boy aged nine who along with thousands of other children from London was evacuated to areas expected to be safe from aerial bombardment at the start of World War Two. This thrust me into the homes, and lives, of numerous foster parents and their families, in Sussex, Somerset, and Wales, and is an account of my experiences, exploits, and adventures. Interspersed, are happy memories of my pre-war childhood spent in Greenwich, a London borough. A few years after the war I joined the Royal Navy as a stoker and this mainly forms the second part of the book. This is a light-hearted account of incidents and escapades during my seven years of service which was spent in a carefree and irresponsible manner - without regret.
