Midwives working in level III maternity wards are confronted with pathological pregnancies on a daily basis, in contrast to those working in level I maternity wards, who mainly manage physiological pregnancies. The primary objective of our study was to determine whether low-risk pregnancies are more overmedicated in level III maternity wards than in level I maternity wards. Our secondary objective was to determine whether management in level III generated more complications during delivery. Our study is a descriptive cross-sectional study with an etiological focus. Our population is composed of 100 women who gave birth at the CHU Estaing in Clermont-Ferrand and 100 women who gave birth at the CH Paul Ardier in Issoire between April 1, 2011, and August 15, 2011.
