He is the founding director of the Johanna Mestorf Academy, Speaker of the Collaborative Research Centre "Scales of Transformation: Human-environmental Interaction in Prehistoric and Archaic Societies"and of the Excellence Cluster "ROOTS - Social, Environmental, and Cultural Connectivity in Past Societies".
