Among the pathologies that affect the female genital tract, vulvovaginitis is one of the most frequent diseases in gynecological practice. Vulvovaginitis is inflammation of the vulva and vagina, commonly caused by microorganisms such as Candida albicans, Trichomonas vaginalis, and Gardnerella vaginali. One of the forms of treatment used is ovules. Ovules are pharmaceutical forms intended to be inserted into the vaginal tract, where they soften and dissolve, releasing the active ingredient, which may have a local or systemic effect. The objective of this study was to develop ovules for the treatment of female genitourinary tract infections containing boric acid and, thus, to verify the most appropriate formulation and perform quality control tests on the ovules developed.
