In this paper components and sub-components of WPI (Water Poverty Index) are described and surveying is done to assess the socio-economic condition of low-income area in Dhaka city. In order to investigate the water poverty index in the surveyed area data was collected, those were analyzed and using different factors those were used to calculate subcomponents and finally WPI was obtained. Those data were collected on the basis of social class, income level and need and demand of the inhabitants. The factors are resource, access, capacity, use and environment. Considering stable political and geological, hydro-geological state these factors were calculated. There can be a variation in the data depending on the income variability and location from water source or level of ground water. The research also indicates that further improvement of living standard of people by providing a better quality of water and sanitation. Furthermore, this book shows that there is an inter-relation between water consumption, management, poverty and as a whole socio-economic condition of people.
