Almost anywhere you look today, in business, politics, sports, education and yes ministry, there is a resounding cry for leadership Today more than ever there is a need for leaders who exemplify a high standard of moral excellence. This was one of the primary reasons for me writing this book. It is my hope that I can bring some light to a very serious predicament the church finds itself in; a lack of true servant leaders. The first step in changing our current church culture of leadership is to begin changing how we view leadership. Our current perception of leadership has too often been skewered by societal definitions. The church and its leaders must undergo a mental makeover that will ultimately give us an accurate understanding of what it means to be a servant leader. Anyone can place the title of Bishop, Pastor, Elder, Deacon, Apostle, Evangelist, Minister, Reverend, etcetera, beside their name; but God didn't call us to have titles. God called us to be servants And the mantra of a servant is always, "Lord not my will, but your will be done." Romans 9:17-- "I raised you up for this very purpose, that I might display my power in you and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth." To be what you tell others to be, you must be the first to walk in a daily life of self-discipline. You must be willing to do what others either will not, or cannot, and live a life of passionate commitment to Christ. If you fail, even though you were capable, are YOU truly fit to be called a Leader?
