In the early 1990s the European Union identified End of Life Vehicles as a priority waste stream and the Directive was introduced. Automotive companies are being pushed by environmental awareness and legislation to recycle, remanufacture and reuse components at the end of life. Within this scenario, a design tool is needed for vehicle design processes. Research has established the importance of developing a specific design tool to fulfil the current requirements of vehicle design. Hence, this book discusses a new design tool called Design for End of Life Value methodology for the vehicle design and development process. It is believed that the adoption of the Design for End of Life Value concept at the early stage of vehicle design can help the vehicle designers to fulfil the Directive requirements and to assess vehicles for their technical and economic viabilities at end of life. This book is suitable for those who are interested in sustainable development issues like design engineers, vehicle manufacturers, recyclers, dismantlers and also undergraduate and postgraduate students.
