This book is dedicated to my brother, Jim Black who worked for the BBC and whom I loved dearly. When I was young my mother told me many stories of her life, which have remained with me, and which have provided me with some of the material for this book. Put together with my own memories and experiences I would now like to pass them on to my family and future generations, who in this modern day age in which we live, do not always have the time to listen.
