Dr. Mohamad Midani is an Assistant Professor at the Materials Engineering Department, German University Cairo, Egypt. He is also the managing partner of inTEXive consulting, Secretary General of the International Association of Palm Byproducts, and member of the Advisory Board of Middle East Company for Textiles. Dr. Midani has long experience in the textile industry, with a focus on technical textiles and nonwovens, with an ongoing research collaboration and consulting to the industry. His research mostly focuses on natural fibers and fiber reinforced composites, and he is the inventor of the long textile fibers from the midribs of date palm (PalmFil). He is also the co-founder of the World Conference on Palm Byproducts and their Applications (ByPalma). He published more than 25 articles in international journals and conferences in addition to co-editing one book. Dr. Midani is a reviewer to several international journals from different publishers. He teaches undergraduate and graduate courses on Fiber Reinforced Polymer Composites as well as New Product development and Innovation Management. In 2016, Dr. Midani received a recognition for excellence in teaching from NC State University, and in 2019 from the American University in Cairo. Dr. Midani has his BSc in Mechanical Engineering from Ain Shams University (2006), MT in Textiles & Apparel Technology and Management (2012), and Ph.D. in Fiber and Polymer Science from the College of Textiles NC State University (2016). He is also a certified New Product Development Professional (NPDP) and a member of the Product Development and Management Association (PDMA).

Dr. Naheed Saba completed her PhD (Nanocomposites) with Distinction from Laboratory of Biocomposites Technology, Institute of Tropical Forestry and Forest Products (INTROP), Universiti Putra Malaysia, Serdang, Selangor, Malaysia in 2017. She completed her masters in chemistry and also completed her postgraduate diploma in environment and sustainable development from India. She has published over 50 scientific Peer review Articles in International Journal and 4-5 Articles come under top cited articles in Construction and Building Materials, and Polymers Journal during 2016-2019. She edited six books from Elsevier and also published more than 25 book chapters in Springer, Elsevier, and Wiley publication. She attended few international conferences and presented research papers. Her research interest areas are nanocellulosic materials, fire-retardant materials, natural fiberereinforced polymer composites, biocomposites, hybrid composites, and nanocomposites. She is also recipient of International Graduate Research Fellowship and Graduate on time (GOT) award from Universiti Putra Malaysia, Malaysia. Presently she is Editor-in-Chief of The Journal of Composites and Advance Materials (ISSN 2716-8018) is a peer-reviewed bi-annual journal. She is also Member of Editorial board of Springer-Nature Book Series-Composite Science and Technology. She is also reviewer of several international journals such as Cellulose, Constructions and Building Materials, Composite Part A, Composite Part B, Journal of Polymers and The Environment, Journal of Energy Storage, Journal of Elastomers and Plastics, Journal of Materials Research and Technology, BioResources, and Carbohydrate Polymers. Her H-index=18 (Scopus); H-Index=21 (Google Scholar).

Professor Othman Y. Alothman is a professor at the department of chemical engineering, King Saud University, with more than 12 years in teaching of undergraduate and graduate levels. His interest is in the field of polymer processing, blends and additives, including processing, aging and characterization of natural fiber/polymer composites, with an interest on the environmental aspects. He has published and presented more than 100 articles in journals and conferences, in addition to co-editing and translating 5 books. He is also a reviewer of a number of high-impact journals from different publishing groups. He is also a member of Polymer Processing Society (PPS) and the Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE).

Alothman holds a B.Sc. degree in Chemical Engineering from King Saud university (1997) and a PhD degree from the University of Manchester in Polymer Science and Technology (2007).

This book covers the recent research advances on the utilization of date palm fibers as a new source of cellulosic fibers that can be used in the reinforcement of polymer composites. It discusses the competitive mechanical, physical, and chemical properties which make date palm fibers stand out as an alternative to other fibers currently used in the natural fiber composites market. This volume will be useful to researchers working on natural fiber composites and fiber reinforced composites looking to develop green, biodegradable and sustainable components for application in automotive, marine, aerospace, construction, wind energy and consumer goods sectors.
