This is the third volume in a Series entitled "Journeys in Consciousness," a compilation of the extensive writings and transcriptions from the life of Charles DeTurk. They are all brought up-to-date and placed in a contemporary context with extensive current commentary. Most of the text is presented as though Charles was sitting down with the reader and sharing ideas over a cup of coffee or a glass of wine. The writing is very conversational and populated with entertaining stories largely taken from Charles' own experience. The title is derived from a contemplation of a thought that is gaining dramatically in adherents, namely that rather than being mere finite human beings, whose total existence is measured between birth and death, that we are, in truth, eternal spiritual beings who are presently expressing and experiencing as human beings. The spiritual aspect of that realization, when confronted with the secular reality created largely through our perceptions of this world of appearances, creates an elaborate dance that results in a drive that expresses through the thoughts and actions of humanity as an explosive experience of infinite growth and possibilities. This book begins with a reprinting of an article written in the late 1990's regarding the impact of the realization of the vastness of the universe. This is followed by a response to the terrorism that was highlighted by the events of 9/11. Next is consideration of the relationships between quantum physics and spirituality. Delving back into the secular, we are confronted by some often disturbing perspectives upon the values we place upon life and death. This is followed by several chapters derived from Sunday morning talks concerning various religious topics like the Lord's Prayer, whether Jesus actually died "for" our sins, the exposure of a radical in the Christian church, the activity of God, the importance of practicing the principles that we have discovered that underlie reality, new perspectives upon the power of "I Am," the key to understanding how prayers are answered, and thoughts upon the subject of Prosperity. From there Charles presents a four part series on Money and You, delving into our relationship with money from a new perspective. The book is rounded out with an extensive piece upon what the Bible truly says about homosexuality and a chapter that was, once upon a time, the beginning of an autobiography. And so the dance goes on. Although we are aware that we are experiencing an onslaught of challenges and changes in our lives, it appears, when we look at the input of many people upon major issues in economics, politics, religion, business, relationships, the environment, and our ability to communicate with one another in a world that is rapidly shrinking in our ability to access so much information from anywhere in the world, it is imperative that we be able to break away from conditioned modes of perception and see our evolving reality with new eyes. That is not easy to do, for it requires circumventing the protective ego that wants things to stay as they are so that it can pretend that it is still in control. Charles discovered long ago that a very effective way of sneaking past the ego is through lulling it with a "bedtime story," so to speak. And so he couches much of the discoveries that he has to share in interesting stories drawn largely from his own experience. So, if you are looking for something out of the ordinary, something that might actually challenge your thinking and feeling, this book, and this series is a good place to start. It fits the bill.
