Changes in the skin can be markers of internal malignancy; multiple cutaneous manifestations are evident in different neoplasms. The skin is perhaps the most accessible organ and its exploration does not require aggressive techniques and can provide valuable clues suggesting an underlying neoplastic process. The frequency with which some dermatoses are associated with internal neoplasia suggests that this occurrence is not random. Recognizing the characteristic lesions facilitates the early detection of a hidden cancer whose own manifestations would probably appear months or even years later, therefore, the finding of these lesions allows us to suspect the tumor with which they are associated, and to increase patient survival.
