Cry of the Banshee is the first part of a trilogy set three hundred years in the future. It is a time when our universe is governed by two intergalactic organisations - the Stela Union and the Falstov Kalasian alliance. Between the two there is an uneasy truce with small wars and skirmishes breaking out all of the time. With forces spread thin a large part of the universe remains lawless. At first unnoticed Union and Alliance materials start to go missing. It is only when key scientific personnel begin to be abducted that the Stela union investigate. Their investigations uncover stories of raids with no survivors and ghost warriors with weapons and powers that shouldn't exist. The Stela union using a top human scientist as bait set out to catch the culprits. In the ensuing space battle the Union space cruiser the Darcia'mar survives the attack but the Union scientist is taken. The information the Union gain by the partly failed trap leave them with more questions than answers. Gar'lar'mar, a pirate captain thought dead for five years is uniting the great pirate clans, with a spectre-like crew and weapons beyond their time Combined with the help of a dark religious order they plan to herald in an age long predicted by the Execron, an ancient puzzle with warnings of a time when all life will end. A small crew is hurriedly put together, led by a young captain - Tar'ria Amener. Consisting partly of highly trained Union military and ex-associates of Gar'lar'mar they set out across the universe in a race to find the self-proclaimed pirate lord.
