Cross-Cultural Journeys Within the U.S. Culture shares his observations of varied locations in the United States that involved unique cultural constructs: a hippie commune, social fraternity, church camp, small college and religion based retreat community. Unique Cross-Cultural Considerations discusses phenomena the cross-cultural traveler can encounter: culture shock, the "open road" as cultural place, and the role of new communication technologies on the evolving cultural context.

Jim Schnell, Ph.D. is a Professor at Ohio Dominican University. He retired from the USAF, at the rank of Colonel, in 2007 after 30 years of service. His final assignment, from 1993-2007, was as an Assistant Air Attache to China. He is a Fulbright Scholar and has been a visiting scholar at the East-West Center in Hawaii.
