This book is an experimental work on clay-fly ash blends. Laboratory tests were performed on fly ash- clay blends to study the influence of amount of fly ash on compaction characteristics of the blends, varying the amount of fly ash. Further, the effect of increasing compaction energy on compaction characteristics of unblended clay was also studied varying the number of blows per layer. As fly ash is known to be a stabilizing agent, an attempt is made to draw a correlation between the amount of fly ash and the compaction energy with reference to maximum dry unit weight and optimum moisture content. The idea is to show that adding a certain amount of fly ash is akin to imparting higher compaction energy to the unblended clay. Proctor needle penetration tests were performed on the blends containing varied amounts of fly ash and also on samples compacted to varied compaction energies.
