The study in this bookexamined how much the coherence-relateddifficulties/problems of Turkish EFL students inwriting English essays (i.e target language) arerelated to the problems in writing Turkish essays(i.e. Mother Tongue). The subjects for the study inthis book were chosen from the upper-intermediatelevel students at the Preparatory Program in anEnglish-medium University, Istanbul Bilgi University,in Turkey. For a detailed understanding of the natureof the coherence-related difficulties/problems ofstudents Turkish and English essays, this book useda pragmatic analysis, involving the use of GricesCooperative Principle and maxims and sub-maxims ofcooperation.
