Kadapa Koti Reddy belonged to landed class and educated elite. His political journey started as freedom fighter. From 1921 to 1947 he was active in the freedom struggle and from 1947 to 1968 he was an active member of the legislature and the state cabinet. His association with Gandhi, Tanguturi Prakasam pantulu, Neelam Sanjeeva Reddy etc, helped him in strengthening the freedom movement in the Rayalaseema region of Andhra Pradesh consisting of Cuddapah, Kurnool, Anantapur and Chittoor districts. Regional history, (political, social, economic and cultural) as sometimes mistakenly interpreted, is not in contradiction with national history. It is indeed, a necessary compliment to country s history. A comprehensive study of different regions in their totality social, economic, cultural, ecological and also political aspects including popular movements would contribute to systematic reconstruction of history at the macro level. Regional history viewed from this angle could give a comprehensive understanding in relation to national history.
