I am a big believer in place-based learning. The place I visit most often and know most about is the inside of my own mind for that, indeed, is where I live. It is common to think that when we open our eyes we look out on the so-called real world. But which is more likely, that we are privileged to look on such a world, or that we experience an insiders view of a subjective version of that world as tailored uniquely for each of us by our personal consciousness? After facing into that question for thirty years, I have to say I know much more about my subjective version of the world than any "objective," conceptual version I piece together from scraps I pick up almost at random, and mercilessly edit to suit my personal convenience and liking. Quite simply, I do not see the landscape in front of me so much as the inner landscape rendered from my personal point of view. That is what this book is about, the world as I make it happen inside my conscious mind.
