He furthered his studies at Central Connecticut State University, USA, where he earned his BS and MS degrees in Mathematics in 1983. He also earned an MS degree in Computer Science from the University of New Brunswick, Canada in 1994. Mr. Smith then joined the staff at the University of the West Indies, Jamaica where he lectured in Computer Science for 14 years. He currently teaches Computer Science at Florida International University (FIU).
