Die Reihe Corpus Scriptorum Ecclesiasticorum Latinorum (CSEL) umfasst philologisch abgesicherte, kritische Editionen lateinischer Texte der christlichen Spatantike von Tertullian bis Gregor dem Groen und erschliet damit Werke der patristischen Epoche des lateinischen Westens fur den Zeitraum vom spaten zweiten bis in das fruhe siebente Jahrhundert fur alle jene Wissenschaftsdisziplinen, die sich mit unterschiedlichen Aspekten der Spatantike befassen. Die Bande des Corpus Scriptorum Ecclesiasticorum Latinorum werden unter Mitarbeit international renommierter Editoren auf dem wissenschaftlich letzten Stand editorischer Methodik erstellt und von der gleichnamigen Institution, die 1864 von der Osterreichischen Akademie der Wissenschaften in Wien gegrundet wurde und seit 2012 an der Universitat Salzburg angesiedelt ist, herausgegeben. Die Editionsreihe wird durch unregelmaig erscheinende Monographien zu Einzelthemen latinistisch-patristischer Forschung sowie Sammelbande erganzt (Extra Seriem).
