Hypertension in pregnancy is currently one of the three main causes of maternal death and is often associated with high rates of perinatal mortality. In view of the epidemiological data found, the study aimed to analyze the clinical conditions of newborns, children of pregnant women affected by pre-eclampsia / eclampsia, admitted to a reference maternity hospital in the municipality of Fortaleza-Ceará. This is a quantitative, descriptive and documentary study carried out in a health unit that operates as a general hospital providing humanized tertiary care and maternal and child care. Data was collected from the medical records of women seen at the health unit with a medical diagnosis of pre-eclampsia/eclampsia. A high percentage of surgical deliveries (84.4%) and premature NBs (37.4%) were found. The average Apgar score in the first minute of life was 7.2 and in the fifth minute it was 8.4. We observed a significant percentage of low birth weight NBs (40.5%). The clinical conditions of newborns born to women with pre-eclampsia/eclampsia were compromised.
