Because of its coverage of what might be termed 'business law' (including the law of foreign investment and trade) William E Butler's book will be a welcome addition to the library of any practising lawyer who anticipates contact with Russian Law. The detailed notes about available databases on Russian law in the final chapter make it particuarly valuable in this regard ... scholarly and detailed.

William E. Butler is Professor of Comparative Law at University College London, an Academician of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, and Director of the Vinogradoff Institute, University College London. He was formerly Senior Partner of PricewaterhouseCoopers CIS Law Firm in Moscow, and continues to have a Moscow-based consultancy practice in Russian law.
