Eckhard Hitzer Eckhard Hitzer has a PhD in theoretical physics University of Konstanz (Germany). He lives since 1996 in Japan (Kyoto University, University of Fukui, and since 2012 as senior associate professor at International Christian University (ICU) in Mitaka, Tokyo). He teaches physics, mathematics at ICU, and a course on environmental problems in Germany and Japan at Sophia University in Tokyo. He has over 100 reviewed international scientific journal papers and book chapters, is member of the editorial boards of three journals, editor of two books and of 10 special journal issues and conference proceedings, active member and organizer of many scientific conference committees and prize committees. Co-organizer of numerous seminars on renewable energy and energy efficiency and international workshops on Sustainable University Development. He visited many renewable energy and energy efficiency projects in Japan and many European countries.
