Hilly area of Bangladesh is seriously and violently vulnerable for landslide hazard from geological, geomorphological and geographical point of view for many specific reasons. During the contemporary time the geological hazard landslide in the hilly area of Chittagong City becoming more vulnerable for the people's lives, property and resources. It has rigorous impact on a wide range of sectors including physical, biophysical and socio-economic environment. Therefore, the thesis analyzed the causes and consequences of landslide in Chittagong City through the analysis of physical environment and human induced activities. Both qualitative and quantitative data are considered in this study. The primary data are collected by questionnaire survey, field investigation, GPS survey, slope of angle and height measurement and taking photographs, etc. These data are help in exploration of physical environment of landslide location and landslide mechanism and consequence. DPSIR model framework is used for exploration of causes and consequences of landslides in the study area.

Rathindra Nath Biswas, Completed both B.Sc and M.Sc in Geography and Environment Department from Jahangirnagar University. He has proficiency both scientific and social research. He has research experience on landslide modeling, climate change adaptation, mostly related to geomorphologicla and geological disaster management.
