After a few years, he decided to join the US Army and served with the 1st Infantry Division, "The Big Red One" in the mid-1980s. After he was honorably discharged, he moved to the Central Florida area where he joined the Fire Service. Eric presently works for the Kissimmee Fire Department and has been there for the past twenty-seven years. He is married to Sylvia Cruz and they have three boys.
