This picture book describes how some burrowing owls learn that good friends can look different than ourselves, and our other friends. When Owlivia, a barn owl tries to make friends with the burrowing owls they refuse to make friends because she looks different. When a scary hawk comes to the burrow and threatens Chloe, a baby burrowing owl, Owlivia bravely chases him away. The other owls watch in horror, then thank Owlivia for her help. The burrowing owls want to be her friend even though she doesn't look like them. The story describes Owlivia's acts of kindness and the borrowing owls' change of perception of owls that look different than themselves.
