The Network Boot Software project is to achieve a client system with minimum memory resources by booting from a server over network. The client system is using server resources to store its Operating System image file. The TFTP(Trivial File Transfer Protocol) protocol helps to download Linux kernel image in to the client system memory (RAM). The client mounts its root filesystem on server via NFS(Network File System) protocol. The literature study is carried out to figure out suitable method to implement Network booting on EM-X270 board. The primary emphasis was to identify right boot methodology which is also suitable for EM-X270 board architecture. The comparison study between different boot loader methodologies have revealed that U-boot (Universal bootloader) is better in terms of configuration and networking features. The Linux Kernel version 2.6.23 has been selected and configured for EM-X270 board.
