Dr. Bernard, an assistant professor at Baruch College in New York City, presents her first book on young women of color and feminism.
Dr. Bernard was born and raised in NYCs Hells Kitchen, and emotionally still resides there. She was a graduating pioneer of the African American Studies Masters Degree Program at Columbia University, where she then worked as the Assistant Editor of the Malcolm X Multimedia Project. She then completed her M.Phil and PhD in Urban Education at the Graduate Center in New York. Currently an Assistant Professor at Baruch College in New York City, she teaches undergraduate courses in Black and Latino/a studies. She has also published essays in What You Dont Know About Schools and in the Encyclopedia of Contemporary Youth Culture. Outside of her academic schema, Dr. Bernard runs a community group of women of all ages, where they discuss social dilemmas, as they work together to keep NYC the great place that it is. This is her first book on young women of color and feminism.
