Jeffery Fernol (1878 - 1952) was an English writer of romance/adventure stories. He is thought to be the co-founder of the Regency romantic genre. Martine Conisby, Lord Wendover, enraged by his five years of slavery on a Spanish galleon escapes during a sea fight. He is rescued by an English ship. Lord Wendover is determined to avenge this wrong. He returns to England disguised as a tramp just in time to save the beautiful Lady Jane Brandon. The beautiful lady is the daughter of the man he has sworn to punish. They learn of Black Bartlemy, an infamous pirate who has treasure buried on an island. The two set out in search of treasure.
