Rodney Cotterill researched and taught initially in physics and materials science, subsequently in biophysics, and ultimately in neuroscience, and he was one of the pioneers of computer simulation. He has spent periods at Argonne National Laboratory, near Chicago, the University of Tokyo, and the Technical University of Denmark, near Copenhagen.
