Mangosteen extract(Garcinia Mangostana Lynn) has antibacterial properties against respiratory and digestive tract infections. In vitro antibacterial activity of selected bacteria was observed in this work. The minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) value of mangosteen extract and the mixture among various biomedicinal compounds varied in concentration. The results showed that in the bacterial inhibition halos for enterobacteria there was significant difference(P<0.05) between the mixtures of biomedicines. In this work, the effect of mangosteen extract administered orally in Hostein-Frisian calves during lactation was also observed. The following variables were recorded: weight gain, calf height and quantification of colony forming units (CFU) of pathogenic and non-pathogenic bacteria in lactation. The results showed that the consumption of concentrated feed per day of weight gain, consumption of milk replacer in liquid solution had a significant difference(P<0.05) due to the effect of the mangosteen extract, providing a higher intake of nutrients in the calves.
