The present work concerns the study, in vivo, of the response of a battery of biomarkers (CAT, GR, MDA, AChE, EROD, BFCOD, UDPGT and GST) measured in different organs and tissues (liver tissues, muscle tissues, kidneys, gills and brain) of common carp, Cyprinus carpio, following a 30-day exposure to two pesticides: Carbofuran (10, 50 and 100 mig/L)and Deltamethrin (0. 08, 0.4 and 0.8 mig /L), in two separate experiments. The objective of this work was to characterize the potential of common carp as a sentinel species that can be used for monitoring aquatic environments using a set of biomarkers. Our results show that the measured biochemical activities are of great interest in the field of biomonitoring of aquatic ecosystems.
