Physicochemical and phytoplankton analyses of the studied water at Hurghada shores, Red Sea coast were varied slightly during September, October and November and indicated that water were oligo- or mesotrophic. Biochemical analysis of Turbinaria ornata showed that it's content of vital components (protein, carbohydrate and minerals), economic components (Alginates and agar) and biologically active compounds such as oleic and palmitic acids. Turbinaria ornata may be used in water treatments because of its ability to accumulate heavy metals (Lead, Copper, Zinc, Cobalt, Cadmium, Iron and Manganese) inside its cells so that the species should be collected from unpolluted area, and should be contain only the permissible amounts that not affect the human health. Ethanol extract of Turbinaria ornata, oleic and palmitic acids extracted from T. ornata as well as mixtures of these acids (1:1) were effective against Gram positive bacteria , Gram negative bacteria and some fungal species. Water extract of Turbinaria ornata as well as oleic and palmitic acids extracted from T. ornata showed antitumor activity.
