The current work focuses on the fretting where characteristics of the aluminium metal matrix composite specimens with 7% SiC and 3% E-glass fiber as reinforcements. Aluminium MMC plates are fabricated by stir casting process. Six specimens are fabricated, three specimens with reinforcements and other three without reinforcements. All three pairs of composite plates are welded by FSW process by varying feed rates of 40mm/min, 80mm/min and 120mm/min with a rotational speed of 600rpm. The welded zone is been evaluated by SEM test and fretting characteristics has been studied by using linear reciprocating tribometer. From the fretting test, it was seen that addition of reinforcements reduced the wear of the composite. It was also found that increase in feed rates increased the wear of the specimen. Also as the load increases the weight loss of the specimen increases. The results of the tests are tabulated and are plotted on the graph.
