Realizing the need for teachers to be taught more than how to teach academics to middle-class students, this guidebook focuses on the need to prepare teachers and other school personnel to lead and empower diverse groups of students so that they will be ready and able to create and participate in tomorrow's society. I wrote this manuscript in hopes of sowing seeds for more humanistic schools among present and future teachers and administrators, just as I had hoped that the seeds of harmony I was able to sow in my classroom might serve as catalysts for my students to work for and to incorporate humanism throughout their lives. This book is peppered with my anecdotes, as a veteran teacher, intended to encourage other teachers to draw "text to self" connections, as they read this booklet and to inspire them as they continue to practice their craft.
