The Uttar Pradesh Forest Department and the Greater Noida Authority in collaboration with the WWF-India have initiated this project on the planning and development of Surajpur wetland. This wetland provides an opportunity to protect biodiversity and set an example of how wildlife can be protected and preserved close to urban areas, without hindering the development of the same. It will not only provide people an opportunity to experience the uniqueness of the area and the species it attracts, but also make them more environmentally conscious. Within this purview, the aim of this study was to collect baseline information on the ecology of the area and to use this knowledge for the further development, preservation and conservation of the wetland through focused research and documentation, technical assistance in wetland management and awareness raising in the community. The final objectives were to study the plant species composition and floral diversity of Surajpur wetland and to estimate the avian diversity with respect to different habitats in Surajpur wetland.

Instinctive affection towards wildlife conservation encourages me to start our career in biodiversity conservation and have completed my Ph.D in 2015 from Kumaun University, India. Currently, I am working for Biodiversity Finance Initiative Project in Wildlife Institute of India in collaboration with UNDP.
