Clinical or community nursing care includes a combination of autonomous and collaborative interventions. Autonomous interventions include the provision of assistance with activities of daily living, the helping relationship, and teaching the person to change his or her behaviour. These autonomous interventions stem from the nursing diagnosis which, as ANADI points out, is the basis of all nursing interventions. Unfortunately, nurses are moving away from their original roles to delegated and collaborative care. This is what led us to conduct a study on the obstacles to the use of nursing diagnosis in quality care in Cameroonian health facilities in general and in HGOPY in particular. The theories of the school of need, health promotion and interaction served as a framework for this work. We hypothesized that the use of nursing diagnosis is influenced in Cameroon in general and at HGOPY in particular by socio-cultural barriers.
