This essay offers a thorough analysis of Augusta Read Thomass second violin concerto, Carillon Sky (2005). The work is compared with her solo violin work Caprice, written at the same time, as well as the similar Berios work Sequenza VI and Chemins II. Violinist Mei-Fang Wang, a native of Taiwan, has been honored as the first prize winner of the Paul Rolland Memorial Competition, and the second place winner of the American Protégé International Piano and Strings Competition. She earned her Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
