Since 1967, shortly after the end of Vatican II, Lutherans and Catholics lead an ecumenical dialogue. In these 50 years remarkable agreements have been achieved. Particularly regarding the doctrine of justification there has been reached a consensus in fundamental truths. Convergence of positions has also been achieved on the issues of ministry and eucharist. Recently the common commemoration of the Reformation came into view. On the occasion of these 50 years of international Protestant-Lutheran/Roman-Catholic dialogue the Institute for Ecumenical Research in Strasbourg and the Johann-Adam-Mohler-Institute for Ecumenism in Paderborn jointly organised in July 2016 an international seminary in Strasbourg. The papers of this conference, being published in this volume, shed light on the different phases of this dialogue. Historical introductions, contributions from national dialogues, methodological considerations and outlooks on the future of the dialogue, complete the presentations and analyses.
