This cross-sectional study in the field of bullying and attitude research aims to clarify whether attitudes towards bullying have changed over recent generations and to what extent personal experiences of bullying play a role in this. For theoretical grounding, the topics of 'bullying' and 'attitudes' are dealt with separately (definitions, processes, state of research), with repeated references to each other. In the empirical part, 118 test subjects were asked to complete a questionnaire about their attitudes towards bullying and, in some cases, retrospectively about their experiences of bullying during their school days. The results showed that, contrary to what is postulated in the literature, there was no significant correlation between attitudes towards bullying and personal experiences of bullying. Overall, hardly any results were found that were in line with expectations, but this can be explained by external factors, among other things. Nevertheless, there are implications for educational theory and practice.
