The family is an open, dynamic and evolving system, made up of subsystems that relate, interact and influence each other. The family life cycle, as a developmental transition, comprises a set of structural, relational and communicational changes, divided into stages that include the development of well-defined tasks. In the stage relating to families with adult children, these changes include the recognition of the child's adult status, their autonomy and independence from the parental subsystem, the redefinition of the parent-child relationship and the restructuring of the marital relationship. The extension of family life, which is increasingly common in today's society, has an impact on marital satisfaction, the parental role and the family process. This book characterizes families with adult children, identifies their needs and strengths, as well as the intervention developed. The Dynamic Model of Family Assessment and Intervention was used as a theoretical framework. The results highlight the importance of specialized Family Health Nursing care in empowering families.
