And, how valiantly she fought for the gift of an extended life that she hoped to share with them and the other friends and family members who meant more to her than even her eloquent words could express. It was Steve Upton, Betty's collaborator on this work and a published author, who first suggested to Betty that other people who are presently battling one of life's oppressive medical conditions could gain a measure of peace, understanding and courage from Ashley's brutally candid description of her last months. After much thought and careful consideration, Betty agreed to allow the book to be offered to the public, with one important stipulation. She was clear that no profit be realized from the publishing and sale of this book. Consequently, all proceeds from the sale of this book will be donated to cancer research, and especially toward research targeted at ending breast cancer.
