William Shakespeare (1564-1616) was an English poet, playwright, and actor. He is generally considered the greatest dramatist of all time, the greatest English writer, and one of the greatest writers in any language. Shakespeare is best known for his plays, many written for his own acting troupe, which are still regularly staged today. As You Like It, or What You Will is one of Shakespeare's pastoral comedies, written about 1599. As the non-specific title suggests, it is intended to have no deep significance; this is simply light-hearded fun. Set largely in an idealized countryside with idealized sheperds and renegade noblemen, it is most notable for its high wedding count (four) and for including three of Shakespeare's most memorable characters: the jester Touchstone, the melancholy lord Jacques, and the sharp-witted Rosalind. This book is in the Deseret Alphabet, a phonetic alphabet for writing English developed in the mid-19th century at the University of Deseret (now the University of Utah).
