Their journey reveals Lord Micah has other plans; plans that will take Stella to a place where most of the Family has never ventured, and engage them in a battle the Community has not bargained for. After being told of what Santiana has in store, a plan is set forth to protect the Community and those they are commissioned to keep safe. Ethan has to set aside his prejudice and work directly with Dalton in order to erect a fortress that will house all that now abide on this world. A fortress designed, so they think, to keep the Family and the darkness from penetrating its walls. Seth, in order to save Stella, must now get the sword from Dalton and bring it to Samael at which time a bargain is struck; he will have to take Dalton's life in order for Stella to be released. He and Dalton's journey to where all things are forged in the universe, in order to find Lord Micah and Stella, reveals to them both a different path and destiny. In spite of the horrors and the battle that is ensuing, Amelia finds herself having difficulty fighting her attraction to Ethan. He is drawn to her as well, but the fact that she has the blood of the Family flowing through her, the same darkness that destroyed his family and cursed he and his sister, causes him to distance himself. A surprising resurrection, and a move from Santiana and the Family, escalates the battle placing them all in danger with heavy casualties on both sides. Amelia's powers and will are tested as shadow finds its way to the world, on the cusp of another, the Community had created to keep them safe. Now the devastation will leave them all in a place they had not counted on...
