The role of antibiotics in the treatment of peri-implant inflammation is indispensable in today's dental practice. This study (master's thesis) examines, among other things, the effects, side effects, resistance and type (local and systemic) of antibiotic treatment. Furthermore, the study presents implant development and its characteristics, such as design and material. The aetiology of peri-implantitis is also discussed here. Antibiotics can be chosen as the main or sole treatment instrument or as a supportive measure. The study here shows the importance of antibiotic therapy, the choice of the respective agent and its mode of action.
