Annabelle, like all of her fairy friends, desperately wants to be a rose fairy when she grows up. But when things go horribly wrong at the Great Selecting ceremony, the fairy queen tells Annabelle she will have to spend the rest of her life as a fart fairy
As Annabelle's childhood friends distance themselves from her, Annabelle's family -- especially her goofy brother, Fevrile -- tell her everything will be alright. But, she knows better than to believe them.
This is the story of how Annabelle tries to run away from her life as a fart fairy, breaking rules and friendships along the way. But, when catastrophe strikes, she is forced to embrace her identity as a Forgotten Fairy, leading her to a destiny more important than anything else in history.

Excerpt from Chapter 1 of "Annabelle, the Reluctant Fart Fairy": Hi. My name is Annabelle, and I am a fairy. What kind of fairy? Well, I'll get to that. I had to write this book because the only fairies most humans know about are the fairies they want to know about. The flower fairies, the cute furry animal fairies, the sweet birdie fairies, junk like that.
But there are tons of fairies out there no one has ever heard of. Some of us fairies call them the Forgotten Fairies, and I'm one of them.
Most humans just want to think about pretty cute things. They never think about all the other things that go into keeping the world working. Stuff like spiders, scabs, gophers, barf, snakes and farts. But, if you think about it, you realize it's all connected.
But, whatever, I'll get to that later.
The only way you will understand is if I tell you about how fairies get their jobs. You probably thought we were born into them, but it's not true. We are all born the same. Then, we go to school for a few hundred years to learn everything about nature. And, when we are 500 years old, we go to the Great Selecting where we learn what type of fairy we will be.
You probably also didn't know that most fairies live to be between 2,500 and 3,000 years old. When we hit 500, it's about the same as turning 18 for a human. It is the time when all the older fairies say we have to get to work and do real fairy stuff. And that is why we do the Great Selecting.
The Great Selecting is pretty awesome. All the fairies born 500 years ago gather in the Glade of Life. Each individual Fairy County has its own Selecting Ceremony. Fairy Counties are pretty big, in human terms about twenty miles by twenty miles. Each county has a queen fairy who does the selecting.
During the day, there is a huge party and everyone eats and drinks tasty stuff like honeysuckle nectar and acorn cupcakes. The old fairies tell tales about when they were selected, and the 500-year-old fairies wonder what they will be.
It was the same for me. I wondered and worried what I would spend the rest of my life doing. What would the queen decide was the right job for me?
The time for the Great Selecting had arrived, and I would soon find out what I would be. That is where my story truly begins.
