The author, Dr. Barbara Dydyk, is a clinical psychologist and a family therapist with over thirty years experience working with children, couples and families. Dr. Dydyk received her doctoral training at Loyola University of Chicago and a post-doctoral degree from McMaster University and Chedoke Child and Family Centre in Hamilton, Ontario. She also completed an internship and advanced internship at the Philadelphia Child Guidance Centre. Dr. Dydyk developed the INTERFACE Service at Thistletown Regional Centre in Toronto, an innovative family-focused service for troubled children and their families. She also researched and developed a unit that admitted whole families for intensive assessment and treatment. Dr. Dydyk currently consults to a number of treatment services in the Toronto area and has an active private practice. She is herself divorced and thereby appreciates the struggles and the intense emotions that women experience as they negotiate the separation and divorce process.
