Some compounds of pharmaceutical interest strongly absorb visible light which permits direct quantitative colorimetric measurements. Certain groups present in the structure of the drug molecule when treated with chromogenic agent produce a color therefore Visible spectrophotometry is one of the standard method for determining physicochemical properties of drug molecules prior to formulation and for measuring their release from formulations. Most colorimetric methods encounter a problem due to interference from impurities if they also contain same type of functional group, but interference is less in colorimetric than in UV measurements. As very few substances absorb at visible wavelengths, measurements can be made without separation in many cases. The literature survey reveals that some colorimetric method has been reported for the estimation of Aceclofenac from pharmaceutical dosage form which mainly contains extraction and prolong heating process. This book emphasis on development of visible spectroscopic method for estimation of Aceclofenac from bulk drug and formulations, involving no extraction or separation of analyte.
