With the advent of new technologies, there has been a widening of broadcasting and reception channels, and the Internet has become a means of communication, a source of information. In this context, the information society has emerged, characterised by the immense volume of information that is freely disseminated by various means, but information for information's sake is not knowledge. In order to achieve knowledge, it is necessary to select information, analyse and interpret it. This is why there is a need to debate the constructs of information behaviour and information competence. The theoretical basis of this study lies mainly in information behaviour and competence, contextualised by the information society, where the use of the Internet is capable of expanding the use and production of new information. It deals with the quality of sources made available on the Internet, the construction of new knowledge and scientific communication.
